• Creates the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) Compliance Task Force to identify gaps in reporting structures and improve Illinois' compliance with federal background check requirements.

• Task Force charged with conducting audits of records held by the Department of State Police, circuit court clerks, mental health agencies, and other relevant governmental bodies.

• Task Force consists of 16 members including legislative appointees, the Attorney General, Director of State Police, and representatives from firearm owner, firearm safety, court clerk, and sheriff associations.

• Requires the Attorney General's office to provide staff and administrative support to the Task Force, which must meet at least four times.

• Task Force must submit a final report to the General Assembly by July 1, 2020, and is dissolved upon filing its report.
