More than 47,000 Americans died by suicide in 2017, with suicide rates among young people aged 10-24 increasing by 56 percent from 2007 to 2017

Veterans, LGBTQ youth, and American Indians are identified as particularly vulnerable populations, with more than 20 veterans dying by suicide daily

The resolution supports Federal Communications Commission (FCC) efforts to make suicide prevention and mental health crisis resources more accessible to Americans in crisis

Urges the FCC to establish a new mental health crisis hotline and initiate rulemaking to designate 988 as the 3-digit code for this service
