Declares the fourth week of April 2020 as "Illinois Distracted Driving Awareness Week" in remembrance of John M. Sligting.

Recognizes that distracted driving activities including texting, cell phone use, radio adjustment, and passenger interaction divert driver attention and cause crashes.

Notes that distracted driving was a factor in 3,459 motor vehicle fatalities nationally in 2015.

Acknowledges partnerships between the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, American Automobile Association, Illinois State Police, Illinois Department of Transportation, and Illinois High School & College Driver Education Association to educate the public and enforce distracted driving laws.

Directs distribution of resolution copies to participating law enforcement and traffic safety organizations.
