Jerry Harkins Jr. of Rock Island died on May 12, 2020, and the Illinois Senate expresses condolences to his family and friends.

Jerry Harkins was born April 5, 1929, in Des Moines, Iowa, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and earned undergraduate and Juris Doctorate degrees from Kansas City University.

He worked in banking, finance, and political consulting, and was a member of the St. Patrick Society of the Quad Cities with a passion for golf.

Jerry Harkins is survived by his wife Rita, 9 children, 34 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and extended family members.

The Senate directs that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Harkins family as an expression of sympathy.
