Commemorates William "Bill" J. Hall of Urbana, who died on June 9, 2020, at age 94.

Hall was a professor of civil engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign who served as department head from 1984 to 1991 and retired as professor emeritus in 1993.

Recognized as a leading expert in earthquake engineering who published over 200 formal publications and 150 consulting reports, and was elected to the National Academy of Engineering.

Served as a U.S. Merchant Marine midshipman during World War II and participated in an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. in 2012 with his son.

Survived by his wife Elaine, three children, four grandchildren, and two great-granddaughters; the resolution extends condolences to his family and friends.
