Deacon Jack M. Kettering of Rock Island passed away on June 16, 2020, at age 87.

Served in U.S. Army in Korea at age 17, attended St. Ambrose College on GI Bill, and worked as U.S. Postal Service mail carrier before ordination as deacon on November 18, 1979.

Performed extensive religious ministry including jail and hospital visits, religious education coordination, and assisting at Mass in the Diocese of Peoria; later worked as maintenance supervisor at Circa '21 theater.

Developed passion for running in middle age, completing first marathon at 45, and competed in road races, marathons, and triathlons including invitation to Ironman Competition.

Survived by wife Marian, three sons, one daughter, eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren with one more on the way; Illinois Senate extends condolences to family and friends.
