Illinois Senate mourns the death of The Very Reverend Father Gus Franklin III, S.S.C. of Springfield, who passed away on May 3, 2020.

Father Franklin was ordained a Priest on December 9, 1967 for the Episcopal Diocese of Springfield and served as Rector of the Church of St. Andrew the Apostle in Peoria until his retirement in 1998.

He was a bi-vocational priest for over thirty years, serving as Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the University of Illinois and Lincoln Land Community College while performing priestly duties.

Father Franklin was passionate about organ music and served as an active member and past president of the American Theater Organ Society and founding member of ITOS.

A suitable copy of the resolution is to be presented to Father Franklin's family, which includes his brother Gary and nieces Melissa Franklin and Carol Lee Barber.
