Barbara Alexander Mullarkey passed away on April 15, 2020 at age 84; born August 1, 1935 in Oak Park to Olive Kennedy and Benjamin Alexander.

Worked at Commonwealth Edison demonstrating electric appliances and was known as a trailblazer with a company car and expense account during the women's equality movement.

Organized iconic block parties and community events on South Elmwood in Oak Park with her husband John Mullarkey and their five children, becoming a fixture at local schools and youth programs.

Advocated for environmental protection, nutrition and health causes including banning pesticides, opposing fracking and smart meters, and promoting alternative medicine practices.

Survived by five children (John Patrick, Ellen, Daniel, Karen, and Ann), 11 grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins; preceded in death by her husband and four sisters.
