Gary Anthony Knight of Springfield died on May 24, 2020, and the Illinois Senate expresses condolences to his family and loved ones.

Knight served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1961 to 1963, graduated from Lincoln Christian College, and earned a master's degree from Illinois State University.

Knight served as an Illinois State Police officer from 1969 to 1993, including work as a trooper, executive security for Governor Dan Walker, and crime scene investigator who solved numerous murders and criminal cases before retiring as assistant bureau chief of Crime Scene.

Knight is survived by his wife of 45 years Marcia, four adult children (Christopher, Joshua, Kimberly, and Kimberlee), six grandchildren, and his sister Linda.

A suitable copy of the resolution shall be presented to the Knight family as an expression of the Senate's sympathy.
