Wayne F. Machnich of Lake Bluff died on May 17, 2020, and the Illinois Senate expresses condolences to his family and loved ones.

Born April 26, 1943, in Waukegan, Machnich was an Architecture graduate from the University of Illinois and Southern Illinois University who worked at Legat Architects starting in 1968, serving as president from 1983 to 2007.

Served on the Architectural Foundation Board of Southern Illinois University and received the SIU Alumni Achievement Award in 2007; founded and was past president of the Waukegan Schools Foundation.

Was an avid golfer and past president of Glen Flora Country Club; traveled extensively with his wife to all 50 states and all 7 continents including Antarctica.

Survived by his wife of 48 years Cheryl, daughter Tegan, grandchildren Everett and Quinn, sister Corinne, and three nephews.
