Daniel Franklin "Dan" Manoyan of Waukegan passed away on April 20, 2020, and the Illinois Senate expresses condolences to his family and loved ones.

Manoyan was born September 30, 1950, graduated from Waukegan High School in 1968, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1972.

He worked as a sports writer and columnist for the Kenosha News, Waukegan News-Sun, Dallas Morning News, and Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, retiring in 2009 after covering major sports teams including the Green Bay Packers and University of Wisconsin athletics.

He published two books: "Men of Granite" (2007) and "Alan Ameche: The Story of 'The Horse'" (2012), and was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association's Hall of Fame in 2013.

He is survived by his sons Edward Charles Manoyan and Randall Thomas Manoyan; his sisters Barbara Burke and Judith Dembinsky; and his nieces and nephew.
