Opal Lee (Grubbs) Werenski passed away on June 10, 2020, and the Illinois Senate expresses condolences to her family and loved ones.

Werenski was born in Kentucky in 1945 and moved to Waukegan, Illinois as a child, making it her home for 45 years.

She was a cosmetologist who owned and operated Opal's Hair Design for 20 years and was an avid golfer who enjoyed entertaining friends and family.

Werenski was preceded in death by her husband Steve and siblings Roscoe, Louise, Jerry, Larry, and David.

She is survived by children Heather Sternberg and Kristina Lyons, grandchildren Athena, Tommy, and Lucas, and siblings Eunice Schlegel and Ron Grubbs.
