Illinois Senate mourns the death of David Kenly Ashbrook of Bloomington-Normal, who passed away on August 9, 2020.

Ashbrook had a long career in commercial real estate sales and brought companies and jobs to the Bloomington-Normal area.

Served as Unit 5 School Board member for nine years, president of the Corn Belt Council of School Boards, and director of the Illinois Association of School Boards; also held leadership roles with Milner Library, McLean County Historical Society, First Presbyterian Church, and Habitat for Humanity.

Was chaplain of the Illinois Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution and received the ILSAR Man of the Year award in 2015.

Survived by his daughter Cynthia, sons Todd and Tom, 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and friend Marge Smith; preceded in death by his parents and wife Norma.
