Illinois Senate expresses condolences on the death of Donald Alfred "Don" Oppenheimer of Moline, who passed away on August 25, 2020.

Oppenheimer was born January 27, 1928, served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University, and married Nancy Haddick on March 24, 1951.

Co-founded Harrington Signal Company in Moline with his grandfather Fred Harrington and worked there for 57 years before retiring in 2008; served on boards of the Salvation Army, former Lutheran Hospital, and First Congregational Church; was a Moline Rotary Club member for over 50 years.

Survived by three children (John, Linda, and Susan), multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brother Gene, and sister-in-law Ellen; preceded in death by wife Nancy and brother Edward.

A suitable copy of the resolution will be presented to the Oppenheimer family as an expression of sympathy.
