Eliza House of Lockport passed away on June 28, 2020, and the Illinois Senate memorializes her life and extends condolences to her family and friends.

Born December 30, 1923, in Edgecomb County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of Cicero and Bertha Bullock and worked during World War II for the National Youth Administration in Portsmouth, Virginia.

Became the first female security guard at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Joliet after 27 years of service, and held various other jobs including a beauty license operator and work for S.W. Sickles.

Was a founding member of The Order of the Eastern Star Ruth Chapter #9 in the 1960s, active member of Shiloh MB Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for over 30 years, and volunteered as a foster grandparent at Fairmont Elementary School into her 80s.

Survived by three siblings, four children, 13 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; preceded in death by her husband Deacon Thomas R. House, her son Tommy House, her parents, and nine siblings.
