Senate Resolution honoring Gary Shannon Upton of Bloomington, who died on August 24, 2020.

Upton was born May 24, 1943, in Indianapolis and served 24 years in the United States Army as a Vietnam War veteran, retiring as a first sergeant in 1985.

After military service, Upton worked as a deputy sheriff and for the U.S. Army Finance Center in Indianapolis and the U.S. Army Distribution and Publications Center in St. Louis before retiring in 2006.

Upton is survived by his wife of 53 years, Darla Jean Upton; four adult children; five grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

Illinois Senate extends condolences to Upton's family and will present a copy of the resolution to them.
