Joseph S. Forzley of Lemont died on August 25, 2020, at age 93 after a lifetime of community service and civic leadership.

Served as mayor of Lemont from 1989 to 1992 and worked as a purchasing manager at Argonne National Laboratory for 30 years.

Founded the Wilco Career Center and The Blue & Gold Backers organization; served on the Lemont High School Board, Village Board, and Planning and Zoning Commission; and coached Little League.

Received honors including Lemont High School Hall of Fame status, Grand Marshal of the Keepataw Parade, and Citizen of the Year; a bridge at the Lemont quarries was named in his honor.

Illinois Senate expresses condolences to his surviving wife of 70 years, three children, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and extended family.
