Illinois Senate expresses condolences for the death of Louis "Lou" Shaver Myers of Springfield, who passed away on September 1, 2020.

Lou Myers was born September 15, 1931, graduated Cum Laude from the University of Miami in 1953, served as a U.S. Navy lieutenant from 1953 to 1956, and remained in the Navy Reserve until 1975.

Myers worked for Macy's in New York and Myers Brothers, retiring as Executive Vice President in 1979, then worked as a commercial real estate broker until his retirement in 1999.

Myers was a 60-year member of the First United Methodist Church, served on the school board for District 186, and was a board member of SCADA, DPI, and the Fancy Creek Cemetery Association.

Myers is survived by three children, five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and his sister Suzanne Gieszy; he was preceded in death by his parents and wife Dorothy "June" Dunseth Myers.
