Illinois Senate expresses condolences for the death of John D. Barnard of Lincoln, who passed away on September 2, 2020.

Barnard was born October 28, 1948, graduated from Lexington High School and Illinois State University, served in the National Guard, and was married three times (Janet Bressner in 1970, Muriel Dahmm on April 1, 1995, and Zelma Martin on November 17, 2018).

He worked as a seedsman for Jacques Seed Corn Company, bookkeeper for Alexander Lumber, and later at the Lincoln Park District Rec Center; was a member of Normal Masonic Lodge and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Barnard is survived by his wife Zelma, siblings Betty and Robert, a stepdaughter, stepson, three step-grandsons, multiple siblings-in-law, five nieces, eight nephews, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

A suitable copy of the resolution will be presented to Barnard's family as an expression of sympathy.
