Royce Bates was born August 29, 1951 in Conway, Arkansas, served in the U.S. Army, and married Perfecta Eguia on July 21, 1973.

Owned and operated Bates Roofing in Milan for 45 years and served as business manager and dean of students for Bible Missionary Institute.

Was a member of Trinity Bible Missionary Church in Milan for 30 years, serving at local, district, and general church levels.

Illinois Senate extends condolences to his surviving wife, three children, 16 grandchildren, and three siblings.
