Illinois Senate mourns the death of Judge Thomas Patrick Carmody, who passed away on October 23, 2020.

Judge Carmody was born June 21, 1932, in Chicago; graduated from Carlinville High School (1950), Blackburn College (1954), and University of Notre Dame Law School (1957); and married Joan Daily in 1961.

Served as Assistant State's Attorney of Macoupin County (beginning 1960), elected State's Attorney from 1964-1972, joined a private law practice in 1973, and served as Circuit Court Judge of the 7th Judicial Circuit from 1990 until retirement in 2004.

Was an active member of Saints Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and Elks Lodge; served on boards of Carlinville National Bank, Blackburn College, and New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Senate extends condolences to his surviving sister Ann O'Rourke, son Steve, daughter Susan, and six grandchildren.
