Illinois Senate expresses condolences for the death of Dr. John C. Mason Jr. of Danville, who passed away on October 20, 2020.

Dr. Mason earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 1955 and practiced as an obstetrician and gynecologist in Danville for approximately 40 years.

Dr. Mason was an active supporter of Danville Area Community College, Lakeview Hospital, and the University of Illinois, and he and his wife created scholarships for both institutions; he received the Lou Liay Spirit Award from the U of I Alumni Association.

Dr. Mason co-led the establishment of Fetch Dog Park, which opened in 2010.

Dr. Mason is survived by his sister Carol, four sons (John, Jeff, Mike, and Steve), and eight grandchildren.
