Sgt. Jeremy C. Sherman of Watseka passed away on November 12, 2020; born January 6, 1997 in Covington, Tennessee and graduated from Watseka Community High School in 2015.

Joined the United States Army in 2015 and served as a Black Hawk crew chief with Aviation Company, Task Force Sinai in South Korea, Afghanistan, and Egypt as part of a multinational peacekeeping mission.

Received multiple military decorations including the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Award, Army Good Conduct Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

Survived by his wife Kathleen Sherman, parents Gwendolyn and Scott Childress, brother Nathan Childress, and sister Shea Childress; preceded in death by his grandmother Carol Sherman.

Illinois Senate expresses condolences to Sgt. Sherman's family and friends, and directs that a suitable copy of the resolution be presented to his family.
