James "Gene" Chamberlain of rural Albany passed away on November 10, 2020, at age 92.

Chamberlain served as Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War veteran; he had a lifetime farming career in Whiteside County and served 43 years as Meredosia Levee and Drainage District Commissioner, including 22 years as chairman.

He was a lifelong member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, served as a Trustee for 20 years, was first President of the Parish Council, and was a third and fourth degree Knight of Columbus and American Legion member.

Chamberlain is survived by eight children, 23 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.

The Illinois Senate expresses condolences to his family and friends and directs that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Chamberlain family.
