Mark Hinojosa passed away on February 21, 2020, at the age of 63 and was born on August 17, 1956, to John G. and Emma Hinojosa in Los Angeles.

Earned a bachelor's degree in mass communications from Pepperdine University and worked as Associate Managing Editor for Multimedia at the Chicago Tribune, where his team received awards for multimedia projects.

Served as Director of Interactive Media for The Detroit News developing their social media strategy, and finished his career as an associate professor at the Missouri School of Journalism.

Had a lifelong passion for photography beginning in middle school and was known for making deep friendships with colleagues, friends, and students throughout his career.

Senate mourns his passing and extends condolences to his surviving wife of 31 years, Katherine Foran, and all who knew him.
