Illinois Senate resolution mourning the death of Carole E. Sharp of Staunton, who passed away on July 20, 2020

Carole Sharp was born November 15, 1947, in Osage, Iowa, and graduated from the University of Iowa; she taught German at Civic Memorial High School in Bethalto in the early 1970s

Carole Sharp volunteered at the Staunton Food Pantry beginning in 1997 and served as director from 2001 until her retirement on December 31, 2017, growing the pantry from serving 15 families per month to 60 families per month and feeding 10,000 people in her first four years

Carole Sharp received the Realtor Magazine "Good Neighbor" award in 2005 and was named Staunton Chamber of Commerce "Citizen of the Year" in 2007 for her community service
