Illinois Senate expresses condolences for the death of James "Jim" E. Stack Jr. of Collinsville, who passed away on December 24, 2020.

Jim Stack served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War with the Construction Battalion for 18 months in Da Nang and received multiple military honors including the Navy Defense Medal and Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star.

Stack had a diverse career including work at McDonnell Douglas, General Steel Company, ownership of multiple businesses (Stackorp Inc., REDCO Marine, Stackers Restaurant), and 11 years with the Illinois Department of Transportation as Urban Planning Unit Chief until his retirement in December 2013.

Stack was actively involved in his community, serving on the Collinsville Township Board of Trustees, as a Madison County Deputy Coroner, and as Madison County Democratic Party Chairman from June 2012 to April 2014.

Stack is survived by his wife of 35 years Karen, two stepchildren, four grandchildren, six brothers, two sisters, and extended family.
