Illinois Senate mourns the death of Lelia Joyce Moore, who passed away on December 28, 2020.

Joyce Moore was born November 23, 1924, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, immigrated to Chicago at age three, and earned a teaching degree in music from Millikin University.

Taught music in Sullivan and later in Mattoon at Franklin Elementary School and Jefferson Junior High; married fellow teacher J.C. Moore in 1949.

Active in her community as a member of the First Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, enjoyed bridge, golf, and dancing with her husband.

Survived by three daughters, eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren; the Senate extends condolences to her family and will present a resolution copy to them.
