Demetrios Zemenides of Chicago passed away on August 6, 2020; he was born in 1942 in Cyprus.

Served as a freedom fighter with EOKA at age 14 and later immigrated to the United States in 1967, where he studied architecture.

Served as president of the Illinois Cypriot Brotherhood and was active in the parish council of Holy Taxiarchai and St. Haralambos Church in Niles.

Worked for decades as an architect for the City of Chicago and was devoted to charity and civic participation.

The Illinois Senate mourns his passing and extends condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones.
