School district employees with at least 12 months of employment and 1,000 hours worked in the previous 12 months are eligible for family and medical leave under the federal Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993.

University of Illinois employees meeting the same eligibility requirements (12 months employment and 1,000 hours worked) shall receive family and medical leave under federal FMLA terms and conditions.

Southern Illinois University, Chicago State University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois University, Northern Illinois University, and Western Illinois University employees are each granted the same family and medical leave eligibility.

Community college district employees with at least 12 months of employment and 1,000 hours worked in the previous 12 months are eligible for family and medical leave under federal FMLA terms and conditions.
