Requires Illinois medical assistance program to cover treatment of autism spectrum disorder through applied behavior analysis for children with autism spectrum disorder diagnosis.

Allows treatment to be ordered by either a physician licensed to practice medicine or a certified, registered, or licensed health care professional with expertise in treating autism spectrum disorders when medically necessary.

Covers psychiatric care (by licensed psychiatrist), psychological care (by licensed psychologist), habilitative/rehabilitative care including applied behavior analysis, and therapeutic care (behavioral, speech, occupational, and physical therapies).

Specifies applied behavior analysis must be provided by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with a master's degree or higher and Behavior Analyst Certification Board certification, or by a Registered Behavior Technician under direct supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

Takes effect July 1, 2021.
