Extends special education eligibility for students with disabilities whose 22nd birthday occurs during the school year, allowing them to continue receiving services through the end of that school year rather than being cut off the day before turning 22

Amends Section 14-1.02 of the School Code, which defines "children with disabilities" as those between ages 3 and 21 who require special education services

Maintains existing eligibility for students requiring continued public school educational experience to facilitate successful transition and integration into adult life through age 21

Requires an individualized education program (IEP) to be written and agreed upon by school personnel and parents for any child receiving special education

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law (Public Act 102-0172)
