Private employers with 50 or more employees must provide 6 weeks of paid family leave to eligible workers

Leave can be taken for the birth of a child, to care for a newly adopted or foster child under 18 (or older if disabled), or to care for a family member with a serious health condition

Employees must have worked for the employer for at least one year to qualify for paid family leave

Paid family leave must be provided regardless of the employer's existing leave policies

Employees may voluntarily waive the leave by returning to work early or declining in writing
