Requires every public elementary and secondary school in Illinois to include specific books about racism as required reading beginning with the 2021-2022 school year.

Mandates 20 nonfiction books including works by authors such as Ibram X. Kendi, Michelle Alexander, and Robin DiAngelo on topics including antiracism, mass incarceration, and white fragility.

Mandates 13 fiction books including works by Toni Morrison, Alice Walker, and Angie Thomas that address racial themes and experiences.

Mandates 9 children's books addressing racism, skin color diversity, and racial equality for younger students.

Requires that instruction on material from each book be age-appropriate and taught at the appropriate grade level.
