IL HB0160

Adds new subsection (b-5) to Illinois School Code Section 27-6 requiring schools to excuse pupils from physical activity components of physical education courses during periods of religious fasting upon written parental notification to the school principal.

Maintains existing physical education requirements for all pupils in public schools and State universities, with a minimum of 3 days per 5-day week.

Preserves existing exemptions and excuses including medical excuses, interscholastic athletics participation, required academic coursework, marching band, ROTC programs, special education services, and adaptive athletic programs.

Takes effect upon becoming law.
