Amends Section 15-159 of the Illinois Pension Code regarding the Board of Trustees of the State Universities Retirement System (SURS).

Changes terminology from "active participants" to "participating employees" and from "appointed" to "elected" for employee and annuitant trustee positions.

Establishes that elected trustees who become system members or hold elective state office must immediately vacate their appointed positions, while incumbent elected trustees may continue serving if their status changes after election.

Specifies that newly elected participating employee and annuitant trustees are disqualified upon losing their respective status, but incumbent trustees elected before this amendment may serve out their full terms despite status changes.

Takes effect upon becoming law.
