Allows students up to 5 days per school year of excused absences for mental or behavioral health reasons without requiring a medical note.

Students using mental health days must be given the opportunity to make up missed schoolwork and may be referred to school support personnel after using 2 or more mental health days.

Expands the definition of "valid cause" for absence to explicitly include mental or behavioral health of the student.

Applies these mental health absence provisions to the compulsory school attendance requirements for students ages 6-17.
