Amends the Child Care Act of 1969 to allow adults who reside on day care home premises to possess handguns if the handgun and ammunition are locked and inaccessible to children.

Removes the previous requirement that adults possessing handguns must have possession as a condition of employment, expanding who may possess handguns on day care home premises.

Maintains existing prohibitions on firearms at day care centers except for peace officers.

Requires handguns on day care home premises to be stored locked and inaccessible to children, with separate locked storage required for ammunition.

Requires day care home operators to notify parents or guardians of any firearms and ammunition present and the storage arrangements.
