IL HB0733

Adds Section 12-614 to the Illinois Vehicle Code to regulate possession of relay boxes, devices designed to capture key fob signals to unlock and start motor vehicles without the physical key.

Prohibits any person from possessing a relay box in Illinois except for: employees of automotive repair or collision repair facilities, new or used vehicle dealers, licensed locksmiths, repossession agents, and state or local law enforcement officers.

Makes violation of the relay box possession prohibition a Class A misdemeanor.

Takes effect upon becoming law.
