IL HB1170

Amends the School Code Section 2-3.66 regarding truants' alternative and optional education programs.

Makes a technical change by correcting grammatical language in the section concerning these educational programs for at-risk students.

Allows school districts, educational service regions, and community college districts to establish programs serving dropouts, truants, and disaffected students up to age 21 as alternatives to regular school attendance.

Authorizes districts to provide day care services for children of eligible students enrolled in these programs, if necessary to enable student participation.

Permits school districts and regional offices of education to claim general State aid or evidence-based funding for students enrolled in truants' alternative and optional education programs when they meet eligibility requirements.
