IL HB1740

Increases the time window that defines a "funeral site" from 30 minutes before and after a funeral to one hour before and after the service.

Expands the prohibited distance for disorderly conduct at funerals from 300 feet to 1,000 feet of any entrance or exit to the funeral site.

Prohibits loud noisemaking, music, chanting, yelling, or use of noise amplification devices within 1,000 feet of a funeral site entrance or exit if audible and disturbing to the funeral.

Prohibits displaying visual images conveying fighting words or threats, and obstructing or blocking entry to or exit from a funeral site, all within 1,000 feet of any ingress or egress point.

Maintains criminal penalties as a Class C misdemeanor for first offense and Class 4 felony for second or subsequent violations; takes effect immediately upon enactment.
