Beginning with the next registration year after the effective date, the Secretary of State shall issue one registration plate instead of two for newly registered motor vehicles.

The single registration plate shall be attached to the rear of motor vehicles instead of being displayed on both the front and rear.

References to "plates" in plural in Illinois law shall be interpreted as referring to the single registration plate required under this amendment.

Exceptions remain for motorcycles, trailers, semitrailers, truck-tractors, and apportioned vehicles, which continue to have specific plate requirements.
