HB1820 Summary

• Amends the Nurse Practice Act to allow certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) providing anesthesia services outside hospitals to enter into written collaborative agreements with physicians, podiatric physicians, or dentists.

• Eliminates previous requirements that collaborating physicians be physically present during anesthesia delivery, except during the actual surgical procedure performed by the physician, dentist, or podiatrist.

• Removes detailed provisions previously requiring anesthesia plan participation and physical presence of supervising physicians at non-hospital anesthesia service locations.

• Clarifies that collaborative agreements must still describe the relationship and scope of care, with communication methods available for consultation in person or by telecommunications.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
