IL HB1902

Amends the voter registration process to require valid government-issued photo identification (driver's license, state ID card, or passport) when a voter's signature on the certificate does not match the signature on their registration card.

Establishes that signatures in different formats (cursive versus printed writing) shall be considered non-matching for identification purposes.

Removes the previous requirement for election judges to ask identification questions from the registration card if signatures do not match; instead, photo ID verification becomes the primary method.

Retains existing protections allowing voters to refuse to provide their social security number without penalty or ballot challenge.

Maintains provisions for voters whose registration cards cannot be located but whose names appear on the printed precinct register to vote upon providing affidavits.
