HB1933 - Nursing Degree Pilot Program

• Allows the Board of Trustees of Community College District No. 506 to establish and offer a baccalaureate completion program (RN to BSN) conferring a bachelor of science degree in nursing at Sauk Valley Community College.

• Requires the program to meet six conditions including State Board approval, demonstrated unmet workforce needs, national nursing accreditation, maintaining an associate degree in nursing program, and demonstrating efforts to serve minority and bilingual populations.

• Mandates the Board of Trustees provide documentation of labor market need, program curriculum alignment with federal and state requirements, fiscal resources, qualified faculty, and program purpose and target population in the State Board application.

• Prohibits the community college from counting semester credit hours from baccalaureate degree programs toward grants received under Section 2-16.02.

• Requires the Illinois Community College Board to conduct and report a statewide evaluation of the pilot program by July 1, 2026, including data on admissions, enrollment, workforce needs fulfillment, employment outcomes, program costs, completion rates, and compliance with requirements.
