HB1974 Summary

• Veterans certified by the Department of Veterans' Affairs as at least 10% disabled with service-related disabilities or receiving total disability pensions may trap without procuring a trapping license.

• Military members returning from mobilization and service outside the United States who are Illinois residents may trap without paying fees for a trapping license if they apply within 2 years of returning from service.

• Adds trapping licenses to the terminally ill hunter licensing program, allowing the Director to waive fees for trapping licenses for terminally ill persons.

• Illinois residents on active duty in the Armed Forces or with a Type 1 or Type 4, Class 2 disability as defined in the Illinois Identification Card Act may trap without procuring a trapping license.

• Adds new definitions for "trapping license" and "Nuisance Wildlife Control Permit" to the Wildlife Code; effective immediately upon passage.
