IL HB1977

Requires municipalities to evaluate potential costs incurred by affected school districts at a public hearing prior to adopting an ordinance proposing the designation or extension of a redevelopment project area.

The evaluation of school district costs may occur at a public hearing under the existing redevelopment hearing procedures or at a separate public hearing.

Applies to all redevelopment project area designations and extensions going forward.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
