IL HB2389

Prohibits any official from engaging in lobbying or registrable lobbying activities for 5 years immediately following the end of their term of office.

Expands the definition of "official" under the Lobbyist Registration Act to include any elected or appointed official of a unit of local government, in addition to existing state-level officials.

Defines "unit of local government" to include municipalities, counties, and other entities under Illinois Constitution Article VII Section 1, plus school districts and community college districts.

Amends 25 ILCS 170/2 and adds new Section 3.5 to the Lobbyist Registration Act to enforce the post-service lobbying ban.
