HB2431 Summary

• Renames the "Massage Licensing Act" to the "Massage Therapy Practice Act" and extends its sunset date from January 1, 2022 to January 1, 2032.

• Adds new requirements for massage therapists to maintain and update email addresses of record with the Department, with changes to be reported within 14 days.

• Modifies licensure requirements to eliminate alternative pathways (out-of-state licensure and blanked provision) and require all applicants to complete an approved massage therapy program of at least 600 hours and pass a competency exam.

• Adds requirement that massage therapists include their current license number in all advertisements and requires displayed licenses to show the license number.

• Updates administrative procedures to allow Department notices and hearing notifications to be served by certified mail, personal delivery, or email to the licensee's address of record or email address of record.
