IL HB2526

Changes the age threshold for vehicles that can be retained by registered owners after insurance payment on total loss claims from 9 model years or older to 4 model years or older.

Increases the damage threshold for requiring a salvage certificate from licensed rebuilders, repairers, dealers, and remittance agents from 33 1/3% to 50% of the vehicle's fair market value.

Applies these changes to the Illinois Vehicle Code Section 3-117.1, which governs when junking and salvage certificates must be obtained.
